For the study, Bingel equipment provided to 22 healthy volunteers the opioid analgesic remifentanil, and then assessed its effect on changing patient expectations about treatment.

First, participants were placed inside an MRI brain scan, and they placed an intravenous line used to administer the medication. Then the researchers applied heat to the leg of each volunteer, to the point of causing pain, and set the heat to a level at which each participant rated their pain initially in 70 of 100. At the same time, remifentanil provided to volunteers, but they said they did.

As expected, when the potent drug was effective, the average level of pain reported by participants declined slightly, falling 66 points to 55 on a scale of one hundred points.

"What this shows is that doctors need to do a good job of educating patients about their treatments, and also limit false or negative expectations," he said. "If we do, our results would be much better, and I think that patients would be more satisfied with their treatments."

The findings could also point to ways of using the brain to better treatments.

"People have raised the possibility of suppressing the placebo effect," said Nahab. "This is our first indication of how we could do. If we can get into some of these regions and see if we can change, maybe we can improve the effectiveness of any drug or treatment, and this is actually a big part of this work."

Dengan angkuh ia merangkak ke kamar mandi dengan menahan rasa sakit berderai air mata, tiba-tba sebuah tangan merengkuh & memeluknya. Ia terkejut melihat suaminya meneteskan air mata. 'Ma, saya tidak akan pernah keberatan membantu mama sekalipun mama sudah tidak berdaya & maut menjemput sekalipun, ayah hanya berharap mama lebih sabar & ikhlas. Aku mohon ma, bersyukurlah karena hanya lutut yang cidera.' Suaminya kemudian menggendongnya ke tempat tidur, mengambil pispot dan membantu BAB tanpa jijik. Sang istri menangis dan memohon ampun kepada Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, 'Ya Allah, ampunilah hambaMu ini yang tidak pernah mensyukuri apa yang telah Engkau anugerahkan kepadaku, Engkau berikan suami yang sabar & penuh pengertian serta anak yang lucu.'

Disaat itulah ia menangis dibahu suaminya. 'Yah, maafkan mama ya..Bantu mama menjadi istri & ibu yang baik.' Sejak peristiwa itu telah membuat mata beliau terbuka betapa hati seorang suami betapa hangat penuh kasih sayang dan ikhlas. Anaknya yang masih kecil juga sudah mengerti apa yang sedang terjadi. Segera memeluk dan menciumi pipi mamanya. Ujian & cobaan yang telah dilalui menyadarkan betapa Allah Maha Besar telah menganugerahkan kebahagiaan untuk dirinya, suami dan sang buah hatinya. Tiada henti sang ibu memanjatkan puji syukur kehadirat Allah karena telah diberikan suami yang penuh pengertian & anaknya yang manis serta lucu.

Penyebab Terbesar Kanker

Penyebab Terbesar Kanker - Badan Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) memperkirakan 30 persen risiko terjadinya kanker diakibatkan oleh faktor kegemukan (obesitas) dan kurangnya aktivitas fisik antara lain karena terlalu banyak duduk.

"Sebagai anggota dari UICC (the Union for International Cancer Control), Yayasan Kanker Indonesia merasa terpanggil untuk memberi informasi mengenai kanker, dalam hal ini yang terkait kanker kulit yang dapat dideteksi sedini mungkin agar bisa disembuhkan," kata Adiati Siregar, ketua Yayasan Kanker Indonesia dalam siaran pers, di Jakarta, Senin.

Seperti halnya kasus kanker lain, minimnya pengetahuan menyebabkan banyak gejala dini kanker kulit yang tidak dilaporkan, dibiarkan begitu saja hingga kemudian menimbulkan cacat bahkan kematian.

Diantara berbagai jenis kasus kanker di Indonesia, diketahui ternyata kanker kulit menunjukkan angka kejadian yang semakin meningkat dan dikaitkan dengan sinar ultraviolet dari matahari.

Manusia Indonesia banyak yang terpajan sinar ultraviolet setiap harinya dalam jangka waktu yang lama, namun beruntung Indonesia memiliki pigmen (penyebab kulit berwarna coklat kehitaman) yang bersifat melindungi tubuh dari pajanan ultraviolet.

Mengajarkan kepada anak-anak dan remaja untuk menghindari pajanan ultraviolet dengan bersikap cerdas dan akrab "Sun Smart" terhadap pajanan sinar matahari yaitu dengan menggunakan topi, payung, tabir matahari dan pakaian yang menutupi lengan.

Hal ini akan berdampak sangat berarti pada tahun-tahun selanjutnya.

Sinar matahari dalam jumlah cukup, dikenal sebagai sumber utama vitamin D.

Paparan sinar matahari akan merangsang kulit untuk memproduksi vitamin D yang penting bagi kesehatan tulang, sistem kekebalan tubuh, dan berbagai proses tubuh lainnya.

Terlalu sedikit vitamin D pada anak, dikaitkan dengan pelunakan tulang, peningkatan risiko penyakit jantung, tekanan darah tinggi dan rendahnya kolesterol baik (HDL) di kemudian hari.

Meski demikian, pajanan sinar matahari terutama sinar ultraviolet antara pukul 10.00-16.00 dapat menjadi faktor risiko terjadinya kanker kulit.

Tentu saja dengan pengetahuan yang cukup, bahaya tersebut dapat dihindari dengan cara melakukan edukasi sejak dini.

Menurut UICC, sebagai negara berkembang dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi yang stabil dan populasi usia lanjut yang meningkat, Indonesia harus mewaspadai kecenderungan peningkatan jumlah kasus kanker di negara berkembang yang mencapai sekitar 50-70 persen kasus kanker dunia yang setiap tahunnya meningkat dari 10,9 juta pada 2002 dan diperkirakan akan menjadi 16 juta pada 2020.

Adjie Massaid dan sudden cardiac death

Sudden cardiac death dalam bahasa indonesia Kematian mendadak. Politisi Partai Demokrat dan mantan aktor Adjie Massaid meninggal mendadak di usia 43 tahun usai bermain futsal. Dugaan kuat, Adjie meninggal karena serangan jantung, terlebih sebelumnya ia terlihat sehat.

Belum ada keterangan resmi soal penyebab kematian Adjie. Namun, peristiwa kematian mendadak adalah peristiwa yang lazim terjadi.


Kematian mendadak yang dalam bahasa Inggris disebut sudden cardiac death, didefinisikan sebagai kematian yang tidak terduga atau proses kematian yang terjadi cepat, yaitu dalam waktu 1 jam sejak timbulnya gejala. Penyebab utama kematian mendadak adalah karena gangguan irama jantung (aritmia).

"Aritmia jantung adalah jantung berdenyut secara tidak teratur, bisa terlalu cepat atau terlalu lambat. Ketika kita melakukan aktivitas yang berat kecepatan denyut bisa meningkat hingga 200 sampai 300 denyut per menit," kata dr.Aulia Sani, Sp.JP (K), ahli jantung dari Pusat Jantung Nasional Harapan Kita Jakarta ketika dihubungi Kompas.com.

Ia mengatakan, jantung yang berdenyut sangat cepat mengganggu kemampuan jantung memompa secara benar, bahkan berhenti. "Karena tidak ada darah yang dipompa maka jantung akan berhenti bekerja," paparnya.

Aritmia bisa terjadi begitu saja tanpa sebab atau akibat sesuatu yang merangsang, seperti stres, tembakau, atau aktivitas fisik. "Pada saat berolahraga, otot jantung membutuhkan oksigen sebanyak-banyaknya. Bila kebutuhan itu tidak terpenuhi, misalnya karena gangguan pompa atau penyumbatan pembuluh darah, akibatnya fatal," ungkapnya.

Selain gangguan aritimia jantung, penyakit jantung koroner juga bisa menyebabkan kematian mendadak. "Yang paling sering, ada penyempitan yang signifikan pada pembuluh koroner yang sangat vital mengurusi dua pertiga aliran darah ke jantung. Bisa juga karena ada plak yang tidak stabil lalu lepas dan menyumbat pembuluh darah sehingga terjadi gangguan sirkulasi," katanya.

Plak yang menyumbat jantung itu terdiri dari lapisan keras yang terbentuk dari lemak atau kolesterol.

Aulia juga menambahkan, serangan jantung merupakan keadaan darurat medis. "Dalam waktu satu jam sejak terjadinya serangan, pasien sudah harus berada di rumah sakit. Jika dilakukan secepat mungkin, dokter masih bisa melakukan balonisasi primer sehingga nyawa pasien bisa tertolong," pungkasnya.
